I see a tree and it seems to me
It's laughingly leafy, lonely and green
But conversely, the tree sees me
And it chuckles its nuts off at what it sees
I'm working towards my ultimate goal
Of that I have no doubt
But I keep going 'round the bend of the tunnel
Just as the light goes out
I look at a stone where moss has grown
And I smile sadly and wander home
But the stone has eyes, it's old and wise
The millennium passes, the dewdrops cry
I know you must sweat for what you must get
And I can cope with that
But I'm sailing out to sea on a raft
To prove that the world is flat
I stand in the rain, refreshed again
And I file, quietly, the thoughts in my brain
But the rain's condensed, it's Heaven's sense
And the Supergrass whispers all our intent
I hear people say you must have an edge
And who would want to be me?
But listen around, you can hear the sound
Of people saying, "La Vie."
(Indian girl picks two leaves and a bud
Black man cuts sugar cane
Machine milks a bovine quadruped
Look,- I've made a cup of tea again
Man makes machine put a man on the moon
Turner still says, "Sun is God"
Voyager returns after we've all gone
Now, don't you think that's odd?)
